Alex Cataldo is a Managing Director and heads the EMEA Commercial Group,responsible for Moody’s customer relationships in the EMEA Fundamental and Structured Finance segments. He also heads up Moody’s Global Product management group, responsible to develop, deliver and enhance MIS credit-oriented products and services.

Before he joined the EMEA Commercial group in London, Alex was General Manager for Moody’s Italia, appointed in September 2007, overseeing Moody’s Italia operations with responsibility for directing and coordinating the company’s business as well as the regulatory and key client relationships in Italy.

Alex Joined the Commercial Group in February 2014, first as MD heading up EMEA Structured Finance and then expanding his role to include Corporates, Financial Institutions, Project Infrastructure and Public Finance in early 2017. In 2019, Alex assumed additional global responsibilities to head up the Product Management group. Alex’s prior other responsibilities include the position of Associate Managing Director for the EMEA Asset-Backed Securities Group. In this role he headed the Moody’s EMEA ABS rating team for several years before his promotion.

Alex’s first position within Moody’s was within the Structured Finance Group for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) in February 2000, just a few months after Moody’s opened its office in Milan. Mr. Cataldo played an important role in the growth of the office and the structured finance group and has been involved ina number of European structured finance transactions covering a variety of asset classes.

Prior to joining Moody’s, Mr. Cataldo worked for KPMG in London and Sun Life of Canada in the US. He holds a Masters in Economics and Management from SDABocconi in Milan and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Boston University.
