Products and services

Moody’s Ratings core business provides credit ratings that are publicly available serving the public debt capital markets. Moody’s Ratings also offers unpublished / private credit ratings and Other Permissible Services (OPS) products which are non-credit rating products such as fund ratings and other assessment products. The categorization and availability of the products may vary in different jurisdictions and depend on transaction-specific details.

Public Credit Rating

A monitored credit rating that is made publicly available on moodys.com

Second Party Opinion

An independent assessment of how debt instruments or financing frameworks align to sustainability principles and the extent to which they are expected to contribute to long-term sustainable development

Net Zero Assessment (NZA)

An independent assessment of an entity’s carbon transition plan relative to a global net zero pathway, consistent with the goals of the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change

Private Monitored Rating

A private, monitored entity-level credit rating made available on a private basis through a confidential dataroom to the requesting issuer

Private Monitored Loan Rating

A monitored credit rating of a loan which is distributed on a private basis via an electronic platform to lenders

Private Monitored Private Placement Rating

A monitored credit rating of a private placement debt instrument which is distributed on a private basis via an electronic platform to investors

Private Rating for Investors

A private, monitored credit rating made available to requesting investors on a confidential basis

Unpublished Monitored Loan Rating

A monitored credit rating of a loan which is distributed on an unpublished basis via an electronic platform to lenders

Unpublished Monitored Private Placement Rating

A monitored credit rating of a private placement debt instrument which is distributed on an unpublished basis via an electronic platform to investors

Private Structured Finance Rating

A private, monitored structured finance credit rating available across all structured finance asset classes, which is distributed via a confidential electronic platform

Indicative Rating

A confidential, unpublished, unmonitored, point-in-time opinion of the potential credit rating(s) of an issuer or a proposed debt issuance by an issuer contemplating such a debt issuance at some future date

Rating Assessment Service

An unmonitored, point-in-time assessment of potential credit rating, or potential impact on current credit rating, from customer-provided hypothetical scenarios and provided to rated or unrated organizations, or customers interested in feedback on a future structured finance transaction.

Bond Fund Assessment

An opinion of the maturity-adjusted credit quality of investments within mutual funds and similar investment vehicles that principally invest in fixed income obligations

Money Market Fund Assessment

An opinion of the investment quality of shares in mutual funds and similar investment vehicles which principally invest in short-term fixed income obligations

Investment Manager Quality Assessment

A forward-looking opinion of the relative investment expertise and service quality of asset managers

Servicer Quality Assessment

A general insight into the the operational quality of servicers’ loan servicing practices, relative to other servicers performing the same servicing role within a given country

Originator Assessment

A general insight into the operational quality of originators’ loan origination practices, relative to other originators of the same type of loans within a given country

Trustee Quality Assessment

An opinion regarding an organization’s ability to manage the entrusted assets for the benefit of investors, relative to other trustees within a given country

Equity Fund Assessment

An opinion of the relative investment quality of investment funds which principally invest in common stock or in a combination of common stock and fixed-income securities
